Baseball season is in full swing, and with it comes the promise of yet another baseball season for the New York Yankees and the New York Mets.

Shake off any lingering disappointment about the previous season, as just like the calender everything starts all over again with baseball. Whether you’re a die hard Yankees or Mets fan, a fairweather fan, or even a fan of another MLB team, attending a Yankees or Mets game is guaranteed to be a memorable experience that the whole family can enjoy.

In fact, even those who don’t know anything about baseball will have a great time at one of these games.

1. Rich with tradition. Few franchises can boast a more exciting and storied history than the New York Yankees. With 26 world championships under their belt, past legends like Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Joe Dimaggio, Reggie Jackson and more recent players like Derek Jeter, the walls of Yankee Stadium are filled with tradition and history (even if they've moved to a new field.) The New York Mets have a relatively shorter baseball history, and theirs has been fraught with frustration more often than not (just ask one of their fans). Their last world series championship may have been before some of us were born, but hey--it's a new season and anything is possible, right?

2. Bitter rivalries. Is there a more enduring rivalry in baseball than the one between the Red Sox and the Yankees? This year, the season starts out by the two teams fighting it out, and even the casual baseball fan will love seeing how the series plays out. Meanwhile, the Mets will keep up their feud with fellow National League East teams the Phillies and the Braves. Maybe if you're lucky and you happen to be in the Big Apple this season, you can catch some interleague action when the Mets duke it out against cross-town neighbors the Yankees. This exciting series brings highly-anticipated games, fireworks (not just the literal ones that shoot off in the sky after the games) and what should be, a great series.

3. Family-Friendly Fun. Attending a baseball game in New York City is a great activity for the whole family. Get to a Yankees or a Mets game early, and kids can watch their favorite players hitting some baseballs into the bleachers before the crowds really start arriving. Kids will also love singing Take Me Out to the Ballgame during the seventh inning stretch, and taking in the fun atmosphere of a New York City baseball stadium.

4. Enjoy a hot dog. Who goes to a baseball game and doesn't chow down on a hot dog? Baseball and hot dogs are traditions as American as apple pie, and since New York City already has the best hot dogs around, you'd be missing out not to have one at a Yankees or Mets game!

5. People-watch the other fans. If you're from out of town, you may be surprised at the intensity, get-up and yes, some insults that are hurled at a NYC ballgame. But don't be intimidated, it's all in good fun and people-watching at a Yankees or a Mets game can be extremely amusing!

6. Try and catch a foul ball. What better souvenir could there be to pack in your suitcase than a baseball you caught at a New York City ballgame? If you’re really intent on grabbing one, maybe bring a glove to the game with you to increase your chances of snapping one up!

7. Look forward to a home run slugfest. There are few things more thrilling than seeing your team knock one out of the park, and at New York City games they celebrate with fireworks shooting off into the world-famous NYC skyline. Even though seeing the opposing team hit a home run can be a bit heartbreaking, there’s no doubt that its still exciting. Who knows, maybe you’ll even get to witness a disgusted Yankees or Mets fan throw the home run ball back to the field to demonstrate their dismay!

8. So much to do before or after a game. One of the great advantages to being in New York City is that there is so much to do at pretty much any hour. Check out some New York City attractions in the neighborhood before the game, and if you’re still hungry after your hot dog, you can go to one of the delicious NYC dining establishments in the area, or check out one of the many nightlife hotspots.

9. Take in the game action from a great seat. Since Citi Field and the current Yankee Stadium are relatively new venues, most of the seats were designed with comfort and ideal views of the field in mind, so don’t get overly concerned about getting stuck with an obstructed seat at these New York Stadiums.

10. A lot to explore at the stadium. Yankee Stadium has a Hard Rock Cafe and a Great Hall, with plenty of information about the Yankees past and present, and these are just a couple of the ways to occupy your time if the game is lacking in entertainment. Citi Field also has tons of cool things to explore if you get bored watching the game.

11. Hope Springs Eternal. Spring is filled with the feeling of fresh promise, and this extends to a new Baseball season in New York City as well. No matter how disappointing the previous season was, there is no telling what the current season has in store for fans of the New York Yankees and the New York Mets, and what the turn of events will be come October for the post-season.
