NYCTourist Travel Info

Features: Good Morning America is a two-time Emmy Award-winning morning news and talk show.  In the show's present incarnation, anchors George Stephanopoulos, Robin Roberts, Juju Chang, and Sam Champion discuss the news, weather, and special-interest stories, and interview notable guests.

Why We Go: Attending a live broadcast of Good Morning America is a fun, exciting experience for the whole family. As a guest, you'll not only get to see the studio where Good Morning America is filmed, you'll also get to make an appearance on TV! (Admission to the studio is virtually guaranteed in September, January, and February.)

  • Acclaim: Good Morning America has won two Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Morning Program. The first, awarded in 2007, it shared with Today, and the second, awarded in 2008, it won outright. In 2010, the program was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for the segment "Total Transformation: Why Chaz Bono Decided to Change."
  • Diverse Show: Good Morning America isn't just a news program. In addition to presenting the news, Good Morning America provides insightful advice, suggests delicious recipes, and interviews celebrity guests.
  • Likable Hosts: Good Morning America is one of several morning talk shows in New York. People choose to watch Good Morning America because they like and trust the hosts. As of 2009, the show is hosted by two of the most charming and likable news anchors in the country: Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos.

Inside Knowledge: Good Morning America first aired on November 3, 1975. A longstanding rival of NBC's Today, Good Morning America saw a tremendous surge in ratings in the late 80s and early to mid-90s, when the program was hosted by Charles Gibson and Joan Lunden. Since 2009, the program has been hosted by George Stephanopoulos and Robin Roberts.

Do's and Don'ts:

  • Do Request Tickets in Advance: To ensure that you get a spot in the ABC Morning Show audience on the day of your choice, request your tickets well in advance. Also, be sure to include your second and third choice dates in your initial request.
  • Do Dress Appropriately: When you attend a live broadcast of Good Morning America, dress appropriately: wear comfortable shoes (you'll be standing the whole time) and your best clothing (remember, you'll be on TV!). Also, avoid wearing clothes that endorse products, websites, or businesses.
  • Don't Forget Your Camera: While your friends and family will have the chance to see you live on Good Morning America, you might want to bring a camera to record the experience from your own perspective. That way you can cherish and enjoy the experience for years to come.
  • Don't Forget a Sign: Like most morning talk shows in NY, Good Morning America allows audience members to bring their own signs; however, signs must not endorse any kind of business or product and should not have web addresses printed on them.
