Summary
Features: The New York Hall of Science was originally built in Flushing Meadows Corona Park as a pavilion for the 1964 World's Fair. Now a fun escape for children and their parents, the New York Hall of Science features 450 exhibits, including a mechanical surfboard, real NASA rockets, and a massive spider web.
Why We Go: The New York Hall of Science is a fun, family friendly, hands-on science and technology center located in Queens, New York.
- Kid-Friendly Activites: Almost all of the exhibits at the New York Hall of Science are interactive. Kids will enjoy toys, games, puppet shows, a soft-block room, manually powered conveyor belts, a cool science playground, and miniature golf.
- SciGirls en Familia: The New York Hall of Science is proud to offer the SciGirls en Familia Program, a series of family workshops in which scientifically-minded young girls can visit exhibits and participate in hands-on family activities. Workshops are led by bilingual Explainers and NYSCI staff.
- Library: An excellent resource for children and educators, the New York Hall of Science Library features a preschool reading area, a media center, and a multimedia collection of more than 10,000 science-related items, including children's books, adult books, reference materials, biographies, picture books, and works of fiction.
Inside Knowledge: The New York Hall of Science was established in 1964 as part of the World's Fair. At the time, it was one of the only science and technology centers in existence. In 1996, the New York Hall of Science was granted the status of a New York City cultural institution for its dedication to the New York City community.
Do's and Don'ts:
- Do Carpool: Because the New York Hall of Science charges a $10 parking fee, we recommend carpooling with friends. That way you can split the cost.
- Do Plan a Party: The New York Hall of Science is great for birthday parties. Parties usually last about 90 minutea and feature exhibit tours, interactive activities, and demonstrations.
- Don't Forget a Snack: When you're done touring the New York Hall of Science, be sure to drop by the on-site cafe for a quick snack. The cafe offers kid-friendly snacks, sandwiches, desserts, fruit, and hot and cold beverages.
- Don't Miss the Preschool Place: For preschool-age children, the New York Hall of Science offers the Preschool Place, a fun, safe space where kids can watch puppet shows, make decorative necklaces, and play.

Great Museum for Kids - NY Hall of Science
Don't be hesitant to leave Manhattan. Some of the most interesting sights in New York are not in this famous borough. If you're looking for something to do with your kids while in New York City, you should take a trip out to Queens to visit the NY Hall of Science. This fun museum will entertain all kids.
At the NY Hall of Science, your kids will get to do a lot of fun things (go into hallways with crazy mirrors, play mini-golf, learn about bubbles), but they will also have an educational day as well. However, you should plan your visit according to school schedules because this museum is a popular place for field trips.
