Features:   For those visiting the New York City area, there is only one Broadway play to watch. That of course is The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. This 2 hour and 40 minute play, with one intermission, takes place every Tuesday through Sunday at the Barrymore Theatre. Then, on Wednesdays and Saturdays there are even matinee shows offered. The Broadway play itself is about a 15-year-old boy named Christopher. This teenager is considered a bit of a mathematical genius, but he lacks in his social skills. That is why when his neighbor's dog is suddenly murdered, all fingers start pointing at Christopher. The town becomes suspicious of Christopher and his part in the whole situation. To clear his name, he makes it his duty to find out who really killed the dog. However, during this ordeal Christopher finds out a lot more than he bargained for. The Curious Incident of a Dog in the Night-Time is one of the most popular shows on London's West End as it has won a total of seven Olivier Awards that includes Best New Play. Now, this play is making its mark on New York City.

Why We Go: The Curious Incident of a Dog in Night-Time is a play that will keep audiences guessing the whole way through. Once you believe you know what's going to happen next, think again. This Broadway show is truly a mind trip. Plus, The Curious Incident of a Dog in Night-Time has never been on Broadway in New York City before. That means unless you've seen it in London, this will be a brand new experience for theatergoers. Unlike other shows, The Curious Incident of a Dog in Night-Time will move all those who see it. At the core, there is a beautiful story told. There is also one-of-a-kind technology employed, which will leave all audience members feeling amazed.

Inside Knowledge:  This Broadway show is best suited for older audiences. That is because there is some foul language used here. Overall, though, it is appropriate for anyone whose age is 10 and up. Children under the age of 4 are not allowed into the theater at all. When you see this show, you will find out exactly why Time Magazine is naming it one of the best plays and musicals of 2014.

Do's and Don'ts:

  • Do express your enjoyment. Theater is all about appreciating the art right in front of you. When an actor amazes you on stage, do not be afraid to clap your approval. This will let the cast know they are doing a good job. However, make sure to express what you are feeling at the right moment. You do not want to ruin the scene for everyone around you by making noise at the wrong time. Typically, you can clap at the end of a huge song number or the end of a dramatic scene. Similar to this, if a performance deserves a standing ovation, give it to them. You are ultimately the critics here.

  • Don't be super chatty during the play. People pay good money to attend one of these performances and they want to be able to hear all of the dialogue and singing clearly. If you are confused about something that is going on in the storyline, wait until the intermission or after the show to ask those around you about it. Do not allow your excitement for the show to ruin the experience for those around you. The same goes with using a cell phone. Put your phone away for the whole show and stay focused on the performance in front of you. Having your phone out in the open is not only rude to the performers who work so hard to engage you in the production, but also to the other theatergoers as the bright lights can be distracting. This is just common theater etiquette.
