Sir Harry's at the Waldorf
I was lucky enough to stay at the Waldorf Astoria for a night, and with my free room upgrade I was given two free drinks at any of the Waldorf bars. After flipping through the hotel booklet in my room, I decided on Sir Harry’s for the simple fact that it had the most casual dress code. Even so, it was a pretty swanky hotel lounge, with a sleek dark wooden bar and a lit-up display of all the liquors served, with a mirrored wall right behind it. The front of the lounge area had striped couch seating, the middle had small round tables, and the bar had standard bar stool seating.
Each table was served a three-tray snack of mixed nuts, whole almonds and dried wasabi peas. The place was dimly lit with candles and small lamps, and gold-framed landscape paintings adorned the walls. It had a very classy vibe, fitting for the Waldorf Astoria.
I ordered a glass of Prosecco, and the others in my party ordered a single malt and a Tom’s Orange Kiss, a concoction of Kettle 1, orange juice and Prosecco. Drinks averaged about $20 each, and beers were around $10.
I enjoyed the setting, though it was a little bit posh, and the service wasn’t very friendly. Our server was not helpful when we asked her opinion on beverages, and she rushed us to order. It was fun to feel fancy for a night, taking in the feel of the Waldorf, but on an average night Sir Harry’s wouldn’t be my cup of tea. I recommend checking it out if you’re staying at the hotel though.
