NYCTourist Travel Info

Features: One of Manhattan's newest restaurants - and certainly the most unique - Bar Basque NYC at the Eventi Hotel specializes in authentic Spanish food in New York. While the delicious appetizers and entrees will attract your tastebuds, the futuristic design of this Spanish restaurant in NYC will open your eyes; bright red walls, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a massive glass-enclosed patio complete with a retractable roof make for one of the most interesting fine-dining experiences in NYC.

Why We Dine: When it comes down to it, it's really all about the food at Bar Basque NYC. Specialty entrees include unique Basque-region Spanish offerings like glazed veal cheeks and monkfish with parsley and white wine sauce. If you've never experienced a true Spanish restaurant in NYC, Bar Basque Chelsea is a great place to start.

  • Seafood: Bar Basque Chelsea boasts a delicious seafood menu, including grilled fillets of monkfish and tuna, as well as whole fish offerings like saltry seabass.
  • Do It Yourself Wine: Bar Basque NYC features a one-of-a-kind wine dispensing machine, where guests can pour their own glasses of $4, $7 or $15 of wine. As if drinking wine needed to be even more fun ...
  • Futuristic Dining Room: It only makes sense that the conceptual designer of Blade Runner and Tron - Syd Mead - came up with the futuristic design of the massive Bar Basque NYC dining room. Cherry red accents, crazy but comfortable furniture, and a giant flat screen TV hanging from an adjacent building across the hotel courtyard are just a few highlights of the Bar Basque design.

Inside Knowledge: The Basque Country in Europe spans parts of northeast Spain and southwest France, and the Basque cuisine that inspires Bar Basque Chelsea focuses on the seafood offerings of the Bay of Biscay, and the turf offerings from wild animals in the Pyrenees.

We Recommend:

  • Order Apps: Get a better feel for Basque cuisine by sampling some of the delicious Tapas plates at Bar Basque Chelsea. Standouts include the oxtail ravioli and the spicy garlic shrimp with garbanzo beans.
  • Crispy Suckling Pig: More appetizing than it sounds, this crispy specialty dish at Bar Basque NYC comes with potato risotto and mushrooms.
